We are also working to identify fraternities and sororities that are taking steps in relation to gender identity/expression. The Lambda 10 Project has identified these fraternities and sororities as being Out in Front on sexual orientation issues. As a result, their inclusive educational efforts work to create a better Greek community and encourage other inter/national fraternities to do the same. Such fraternities and sororities have developed inclusive polices that include sexual orientation and, or created educational steps to address issues of sexual orientation in the college Greek community. The Lambda 10 Project monitors a list of fraternities and sororities that have taken the lead and are truly Out in Front on the issue of sexual orientation. The ball is rolling and momentum is gaining to lead the way. However, the prominence of gay, lesbian and bisexual members coming out has become center stage for many college fraternities and sororities in the last two decades. I and the other members of the Phi Pi chapter look forward to solidifying our foundation on campus and engaging with the HPU community with the hope of unification.Īlpha Phi Alpha, Phi Pi Chapter President Starting a chapter takes a lot of work and isn’t easy, but having the skills and connections that I do, trust that the chapter is in good hands. Being a leader since my freshman year at HPU, I will take the skills I’ve accumulated and apply them to advance this chapter to the best of my ability. and HPU expects us to serve our communities. We will uphold that standard as Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Having the privilege to serve on this campus means that I and the brothers of Phi Pi are held to a standard that puts us above everyone else, especially as a black Greek organization. On campus, we plan to continue collaborating with other campus organizations to develop relationships that will benefit the community and develop social relationships.Īs a proud charter member of this organization I hope to make a lasting impact on High Point University and the surrounding community. We will achieve this by volunteering our time and talent to community partners, as we see this is the best way to learn about and support them. The Phi Pi chapter is actively looking for ways to partner with members of the community to learn about their needs so that we can build relationships and provide sustainable solutions over time. This includes partnering with the Black Student Union on a 3v3 basketball tournament, with the proceeds going to local chapter of Big Brothers, Big Sisters of America. Through our activities and events, The Phi Pi chapter has already enacted the mission and aims of the fraternity and has collaborated with other organizations to promote unity within the HPU community. ![]() The Mission Statement of the Fraternity is to “develop leaders, promote brotherhood and academic excellence, while providing service and advocacy for our communities.” “Manly Deeds, Scholarship and Love for All Mankind,” are the aims and “First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All” is our motto. We were the first chapter charted in North Carolina in nearly 10 years. We are an international organization with roughly 300,000 brothers and on March 26, 2022, the Phi Pi Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc was chartered on the campus of High Point University. It was founded at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York on December 4, 1906. is the first Black intercollegiate fraternity. ![]()
